One of the most common house styles in suburban Washington DC is the brick “Colonial”, most of which were built post WWII and are small, boxy, repetitious, uninviting. Our client was interested in re-creating her home, adding space while changing the character of the building to something far more inspiring. We designed an extensive interior renovation of the existing house and about 1,500sf of new space at the front and rear, including terraces, new living space, new kitchen and a large, high-volume and sky lit master bedroom.
