Like my own residence in Washington, this is also a renovation and addition to a 1920’s Sear’s “kit” house. We started with the original, 900 square-foot house and expanded to an approximately 4,500 square-foot house. The new building works with many of the original design elements in serious as well as playful ways which has created an essentially formal house with an abundance of light and volume. The structure is conventional wood framing. The exterior materials are stucco, wood and asphalt shingles.
